Several years ago my friend Ron Tate did some research about the number of people in our area of the country that are at or nearing retirement. We were amazed to find that some 800,000 people are in that category. Just imagine that there are that many people in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky with experience, knowledge, talents, economic freedom, training, spiritual gifts, talents and FREE TIME who could be very useful as helpers in churches, charities, schools, etc.
There is a desperate need to find people who can support struggling students, help the chronically ill, minister prayerfully to the lonely and shut ins, etc. Why not find a way match A with B?
There is a great video on You Tube that shows the remarkable power of allowing kids to learn for themselves by having a Granny Cloud consisting of retired men and women who interact with the kids and simply encourage them to explore the things that excite them.
It all began when a smart, innovative man from India was trying to figure out how to help kids in poor villages and slums to get a great education. He tried something rather radical and was shocked to discover that the kids wanted to learn but needed an opportunity to do it with a free computer. Link here to see the video.
Over the following years after that experiment he did it over and over again trying to figure out how to get great education to kids who have no books, teachers, school buildings, or money. How do you think he did it?
It seems that local churches have no idea how to attract adults or kids who are not already coming to church. Of the 900,000 adults living in Greater Cincinnati that are 50 or Older who desperately want to be in churches, and want to make a difference by volunteering, why do Pastors say, "We do not want you"?
We do not want your time
We do not want your money
We do not want your kids and grandkids
We do not want your estate left to us
Why are so many churches desperate for members but turn Seasoned Believers?

Get the book from our bookstore written by a couple who REFIRED and trained hundreds of people in dozens of churches around the nation. He had been a University Professor and she a Children's Teacher. Upon official retirement they bought a bus and headed out to train churches in Evangelism, Pastoral Care, Small Groups, Community Care, Prayer, etc. She wrote the book while in a Retirement Home at age 80. Think it over. You might be considering a dangerous book.
