Jens-Petter and Astrid joined Karen and me for dinner one night this week to reminisce about the 30 year anniversary we share in October. Yes, it seems like yesterday when we met at big international conference outside Nairobi, Kenya in 1983.It proved the point that God can take us as far East as we can imagine because He wants to get us to travel North to the top of the world. That is Norway.
The most dramatic and deepest spiritual and emotional experiences in my life came in Norway. Yes, I was dramatically touched by God in June of 1958 when the message was "Choose this day whom you will serve", but it seems that every trip I took to Norway promised an anointing that was great with supernatural power.
The first night we met with about 300 Pastors, Missionaries and Christian leaders at Stovner Church indicated what we were in for as we went back to Norway. Larry and Ellen Chrouch, Steve Griebling and Hal Schell and I were at the conference called Prest OASES or Oasis for Priests. Larry and Ellen had dinner with the m an heading OASES and he heard them tell stories of God's healing touch. After dinner he asked them to share those stories with everyone and the Holy Spirit showed up in powerful ways.
The President asked all of our team to come to the altar rail and pray for the needs of the Pastors. We could not, of course, understand Norwegian so we prayed as we were led by the Spirit. Time after time the Seekers asked, "How did you know to pray for my child or my mother or my church"? It was through discernment and God's Spirit not wisdom.
That set the stage for many years of meetings with almost every Pastor, Missionary and Church Worker in Norway and many from Sweden and Denmark. We helped them establish the Teleios Ministry in Scandinavia and it continues to this day in different forms.
Thanks be to God for His wonderful gifts to us through His servants in Scandinavia.
