Stereotypes about Christians

If I had any gift that you could give me
I'd see myself
As others see me

Robert Burns

My perceptions are my reality whether it is real or not.

This is why we need to communicate in ways that are winsome for each culture and current mood. Yet, it must be done without losing the most important aspects of the traditional Christian faith and morals.

This is very tricky because the big media are constantly telling the public about who they think we should be not really as we are.

Media also tells people who  they think we are.

The people that produce modern media rarely hold to the traditional beliefs of Christians and Jews. They are liberal about traditional morals and behavior and often fight those who hold Christian values.

Plus,Liberals are extremely sceptic about the supernatural dimensions of the Biblical life.

Easter is all about bunnies and eggs not the resurrection!

They love to set Christians up for embarrassment and ridicule. Want to reduce divorce?

You must hate divorced people.

Want to keep traditional sexual mores?

You hate sex and you want to put people in jail for adultery.

Do you believe in protecting babies?
You must hate women!

Like the Christians in Muslim nations and Russia, we must be careful to guard our speech and behavior when sharing the good news about Christ. As St. Paul said, "Let nothing come out of your mouth that does not build people up".

“For the most part we do not first see, and then define, we define first and then see,”

Walter Lippmann in 1922
